Three top ranking Kenyan gospel artistes are set to share a stage at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Woburn MA on Saturday April 20th. The highly popular musicians, among them Evelyn Wanjiru of the Praise Atmosphere and popularly regarded as the “lioness voice”, all-time favorite Gloria Muliro and the Litungu gospel vibes maestro Pastor Timothy Kitui are expected to bring the house down at the event organized by the Rapture Harvest Mission International Ministries based in Wakefield as a way to raise church building funds.
Dubbed “Building for Generations Praise Concert”, the event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 15 Middlesex Canal Park Dr. Woburn MA. The concert which has been billed by the event organizers as a “high voltage gospel night extravaganza” unlike any seen before in the close-knit Kenyan community in Boston has a higher purpose of raising funds to build a church. “It will be an evening of song and dance as we raise funds to build the Church,” said Shadrack Ondo, the chairman of Rapture Harvest Mission Church during a phone interview with Ajabu Africa news. He urged Kenyans both young and old to come out in big numbers to enjoy the show from the legendary artists. According to event organizers, funds from the ticket sales will be channeled towards building the church that has been serving the community over 20 years since inception in early 2000.
In its heyday, the Rapture Harvest Mission church was the venue for highly entertaining shows that intertwined religion and Kenyan culture including the Kikuyu Day, Luo Day and the Kamba day, drawing hundreds of worshippers from all regions of New England. The events were organized by the Rapture Harvest’s founding pastor, Bishop Joshua Wambua who has since relocated to serve in the West Coast. The new crop of leadership of the church ordained during a colorful event on July 24th, 2022, are keen to drive the church vision to the next level. “We are a church where; Everybody is Somebody- a place renewal and empowerment. We identify the unique gifts in each member, provide resources and ensure they succeed in their areas of operations in serving God. Among the key milestones put in place by this current leadership is providing a path for the new immigrants to smoothly transition to building their careers leading to well-paying jobs,” Ondo said. The new church Pastors include Senior pastor, Rev. Mike Kamau assisted by Rev. Josephat Mithiga and Pastor Dr.Timothy Kitui.
“The concert is not just about enjoying the music. Your attendance will make a big difference towards laying a stronger foundation by helping build a church for the next generation in the greater Boston region. Your life will be blessed and rewarded. We welcome you,” said Rev. Kamau while speaking to Ajabu Africa News. Advance tickets for VIP seating at the much-awaited event are going for USD 100 while the regular section is selling for $60.
