BREAKING NEWS: Shock as Ugandan Pastor Passes away in Boston

BOSTON--Members of the Ugandan and African community in Boston are reeling in shock after the sudden deal of Pastor Benon Kawala, a well known clergyman who has served the community for close to two decades.

Pastor Kawala died in the early hours on Friday morning at Boston Medical center ICU where he had been rushed the previous night after complaining of feeling unwell following complications from liver cancer.

Initial news of the late Kawala's admission to the ICU started circulating on various social media groups late yesterday with many Africans wishing him a quick recovery.

However, things took a sudden turn this morning with fresh reports of the unexpected death.

He left behind his wife, lady May Kawala, who served alongside her husband to minister the gospel over many years and is currently a rising gospel artiste. He also left behind four children, 3 boys and one girl all who reside in Kampala, Uganda.

Shocked family and friends have been meeting at the apartment where the late pastor lived with his wife (65 Dartmouth Street, Belmont, MA for prayers and funeral planning.

A memorial and burial fund raising service took place on Sunday at the Global Evangelical church in Waltham whrre over 600 mourners form different backgrounds attended.Reacp here (Dead Ugandan pastor hailed as a humble, selfless person with a knack of uniting people)

A funeral service has been planned to take place on Saturday June 23 at the Christ Episcopal Church (Home of Uganda's St. Peter's Anglican Church) at 750 Main Street in Waltham after which the body will be repatriated back to Uganda for burial at his rural home of Iganga District.
