Murang'a county Women Representative Sabina Chege has appealed to the Attorney General to consider de-registering the Atheists Society of Kenya on claims that it will further break down the moral fibre of the Kenyan society.

"Kenya is a religious Country and registering such an organization goes against the beliefs of Kenyans," she said.

"I wonder if the many calamities we are suffering in the country are as a result of the high levels of immorality in our society," Chege added.

She pointed out that the constitution indicates that Kenya is a religious country and there is therefore no room for people who do not believe in religion.

"We are asking the Attorney General to outlaw the atheists organization as soon as possible failure to which we will organize protests as leaders," Chege added.

The legislator said registering the group will open doors to other organizations like gay groups to seek legalization.

She called on parents to be cautious of the safety of their children as schools reopen.

"It seems these are people who have been in existence for a long time and have now decided to come out openly and publicize their activities and we as parents must ensure our children are safe," the legislator said.

"I would urge the President and his deputy to also comment about the matter because we cannot allow Satanism to take root in our country," Sabina added.
