The government has said that all public schools will be issued with digital learning devices as a way to promote high--quality education.
Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Principal Secretary Sammy Itemere said the devices will be given out by June next year.
Mr Itemere said the pilot programme undertaken between May and July this year was successful.
He said the total cost of the tablets, which are being manufactured in China, will be Sh28 billion.
"We have so far received 100,000 tablets, which are now being distributed across the country. A number of them are either being cleared at the port and or are in the high seas from our manufacturer," he said.
He added that logistics firm Siginon Global will distribute the gadgets to every school.
