NAKURU-Kenya__The week has welcomed a second ironical event after Martha Karua finally played her cards taking a move many had not expected.

The 'Iron Lady' who had gone to the presidential race in 2013 under a NARC Kenya ticket has been an ally to the opposition working with Coalition for Reforms and Democracy party (CORD) since Jubilee got into power.

Four days ago, she had brushed off allegations that she was speculated to join Jubilee ahead of the 2017 General Elections.

On Thursday afternoon however, she cast her dice choosing to back President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection come 2017. She aspires to run for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in next year’s General Elections, according to various media sources.

"I am very sure President Uhuru Kenyatta is determined to fight corruption. That is why I want to vie for governorship to support his efforts," she was quoted by Nation.

She had vowed to run under the Narc-K ticket although it is not clear whether she is going to dissolve her party. She follows in the footsteps of her fellow 2013 presidential candidate Mr. Peter Kenneth.

In the race for Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat she will be eyeing the jubilee ticket alongside former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ms. Anne Waiguru, incumbent Joseph Ndathi and Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari.

Deputy President William Ruto reacted to the move via a tweet welcoming her back to the Jubilee fraternity.

The move to join Jubilee will be translated as a rhetorical step to woo the Jubilee supporters in Kirinyaga County to vote for her.
