Kenyans in USA led by Ambassador Robinson Githae are planning to hold the 2016 Jamhuri day celebrations on Saturday December 17 at the Damascus Community Recreation Center, located at 25529 Oak Drive in Damascus, Maryland. According to Embassy officials, the event will kick off at 3pm with issuance of Kenyan National ID cards followed by guest speeches, entertainment and recognition awards to members of the community who have undertaken outstanding community empowerment efforts. It will end with a cocktail and social networking session from 8pm 2am. The celebration, organized by the Kenyan Embassy in conjunction with leaders of different Kenyan Diaspora organizations is expected to attract hundreds of Kenyans from many States across the USA. "Am expecting a lot of Kenyans to turn up to listen to the President's speech which will be highlighting many achievements our country has done so far. It will also be an excellent opportunity for Kenyans to network and know each other better. It's a call for unity," said Ambassador Githae during a telephone interview with Ajabu Africa News. "When Kenyans living far from home get to meet and know each other, it's always a very good thing because they can be able to help each other better in a lot of ways. We invite all Kenyans to attend," he added. However, free registration at the venue is required from Kenyans wishing to attend in order to be guaranteed seating and dinner. | |||||||||
