BRIDGEWATER, Mass.,__One year after being ejected out of the All Saints Community church in Quincy near Boston through a No-Trespass order taken out by their then pastor, Fredrick Thanji following a bitter church constitution dispute that landed into the Norfolk Superior Court, resilient worshippers who moved on to found the new Faith Anglican church in Bridgewater got a much needed relief and validation of their commitment to truth and faith in God when the leader of the Anglican church in Kenya (ACK)--Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit--paid them a visit Sunday where he presided over the ordination of a Lay Leader, confirmation of children and the installation of the Faith Anglican church mother's union. The archbishop also presided over the induction of a large group of the church's men into the newly launched North American Anglican Men's Association under the leadership of Bishop Bill Murdock, head of the Anglican Church of North America that is affiliated to the ACK. Accompanied by his wife, Esther Naserian on his first ever visit to a Diaspora church, the Archbishop arrived at the new church that shares worship space with the Grace Anglican church on Main street in Bridgewater on Saturday where he spent the day catching up on the unfortunate developments that led to the displacement, and the eventual rebuilding efforts taking place by the 60 adults 65 children displaced from Quincy church.
However, the highlight of Ole Sapit's visit was the special inter-church, multi-cultural Sunday service attended Caucasian Americans from the Grace Anglican church, Kenyans from the Faith Anglican church, many visitors from other churches including various clergymen among them Venerable peter Gachathi of the Saint Paul's Kenyan Community church in Lawrence, Venerable Samuel Kimohu of Saint Stephens Kenyan community church in Lowell, Rev. Dr. Alex Kasirye, head of the St. Peter's Anglican church of Uganda in Waltham. Also present was Mother Leah Turner, Rector of the Grace Anglican church, Rev. Dorcas Albretch, pastor of the new Faith Anglican church, Rev. Agness Kuria, also of Faith Anglican church and Rev. Cyrus Irungu of the Good Sheppard Kenyan community church in Brockton. More than 200 worshippers packed the church, leaving many more following the proceedings from loudspeakers placed in an outdoors tent set up for the overflow crowd. Tight security was provided by the Bridgewater Police department, with all bag searched for all worshippers entering the church for the service. During his speech, Ole Sapit updated Kenyans and guests present on many issues affecting Christians in Kenya especially during this uncertain time of general elections back in the motherland.
