A plane from Kitale to the JKIA in Nairobi went off radar on Tuesday afternoon. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed this in a statement at about 9.10 pm, saying it was last seen at 2.02 pm. "[It was] at 40 nautical miles from Nairobi, flying at 11,000 ft above sea level," Director General Captain Gilbert Kibe said. The aircraft operated by Fly Sax was of registration 5YCAC. KCAA did not state the number of people who had been on board but reports indicated there had been two crew members and eight passengers. Reports also indicated that the aircraft may have crashed in the Aberdares so search and rescue teams were deployed. The teams had not found anything by press time. "Search and rescue teams from AAID, KCAA, KWS and other agencies were activated immediately. They have paused the search tonight and shall resume at first light tomorrow morning," KCAA said, adding updates will be given. | |||||||||
