BOSTON__
On Saturday July 28, 2018, Ajabu Media, publisher of Ajabu Africa News Community networking website will celebrate 10 years since inception in a ceremony that will see the revival of the Annual Ajabu Awards, a grand event that recognizes and honors efforts by many Africans in the Diaspora who have contributed selflessly to the development of the growing immigrant Community.

The event will also bring together African immigrants in the Greater Boston region who have recently graduated from various schools with the class of 2018!

Award nominations are already underway in 8 categories important to the life of Africans in the Diaspora including:

Academic, Community & Civic Organization, Media & Entertainment, Youth Engagement, Faith, Entrepreneurship, Non-Profit Initiative and Special Award.

An African fashion show coupled with a delicious African inspired dinner of traditional grilled goat meat and Ugali (balled up corn meal) will be in the offing. The Hilton Hotel which will host this event has gone to great lengths to ensure this is served as desired!

Among the top guests of honor confirmed to grace the event will be Kenya's Ambassador to the US, H.E Robinson Njeru Githae who among other notable achievements has worked tirelessly to help Kenya negotiate successfully with the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to allow direct flights from Kenya to USA, an exciting development that will greatly cut down the passenger and cargo travel time from Nairobi to New York when the flights start in October this year.

Other guests include Mr. Japheth Matemu, a Kenyan born lawyer based in North Carolina who has made stunning headlines with his landmark win against the Donald Trump administration in an immigration related case at the US Supreme Court. Matemu is also running for the US House of Representatives 2nd Congressional District of North Carolina.

Shawn Rochester, author of the "Black Tax" book will also attend and is expected to shed more light on how black population in USA have been subjected to debilitating high costs of doing business through many hidden discriminatory practices that amount what he refers to as a "black tax".

Mr. Rochester is a widely sought after motivational speaker who has given speeches at the UN headquarters in New York and Google Headquarters in the Silicon Valley.

He has also addressed many community organizations interested in providing a level playing field to improve wealth creation in the black community.

The event will feature an Investments forum starting at 2pm to 6pm that will include a panel discussion with Ambassador Githae and Mr. Rochester on the potential impact of direct flights to US- on import and export trade in Africa.

There will also be opportunities for several Diaspora based and motherland companies in various fields such as real estate, finance, hospitality and more to showcase their products and services.

Entertainment will be provided by the legendary Ugandan Community Touch & Soul band assisted by Kenya's own DJ Huski from Worcester as well as several gospel artistes.

An African inspired fashion Show will also take place for both males and females. Winners will take home a cash prize.

Founded in the summer of 2007, Ajabu Media has strived to keep the Kenyan and African Diaspora community well informed with genuine, accurate and balanced reporting of all situations happening around them.

Even before the advent of go-fund me and WhatsApp groups, Ajabu Media helped mobilize the community to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in aid of African immigrant families facing death and extreme sickness of loved ones, both in the Diaspora and in the motherland through affordable article writing and internet advertisements.

It has also promoted dozens of business organizations and well as providing a much needed link between the local Massachusetts Government and the community through reporting from ethnic media roundtable meetings with the Governors office.

Ajabu has also promoted dozens of business organizations and well as providing a much needed link between the local Massachusetts Government and the community through reporting from ethnic media roundtable meetings with the previous Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's administration and current Charlie Baker-Karyn Polito administration.

The pioneering community networking platform especially in the Northeast and most of USA, Ajabu Media helped many disconnected immigrants find each other especially through promotion of many new diaspora community churches that went on to grow into bigger organizations.

In the process of the media work, Ajabu have persevered many difficult challenges hence is greatly thankful for the support we have received from our readers that has kept us going for the last decade. The company held the initial awards gala nights in 2010 and 2011 before halting the program due to the prevailing difficult economic enviroment.

The 10th Annual celebration had been slated to take place in the summer of last year but doe to some unavoidable circumstances; it was postponed to this year.

As we look forward to a new era of new improved services and relations; we invite you to come celebrate with us as we showcase Africans who have stood out in their achievements and service to the community.
