Updated Saturday July 28, 12.14.am BOSTON__The upcoming Ajabu African Awards and 10 years Anniversary celebration has now been moved to the Holy Ghost Society Hall in Lowell Massachusetts and will take place on Sunday July 29 instead of previously planned Saturday. Guests to the highly awaited event will now have free entry to the outdoors barbecue and socializing session, thanks to an organizing committee and a few sponsors who have stepped up to make the event a reality. African class of 18 graduates who wish to attend the event are asked to bring their caps and gowns for the graduates parade. Popular Kenyan gospel artiste specializing on Kenyan-Nigerian genre, Lucy Wangeci Wa Chineke will be among several musicians who will be performing both o the outdoors open stage during the 3-6pm socializing hour then indoors for the main gala session. Others include the popular Ugandan Touch & Soul band that socializes on nostalgic east African Zilizopendwa (golden oldies) hits as well as Kenyan DJ 254 from Lowell. At the same time, a website to coordinate nominations for deserving members of the local community to receive the awards have been launched with final nominees due by Monday July 24. Voting will then commence online for 2 days ending Thursday July 26th. Winners will be announced during the actual event on Sunday. Ajabu Africa readers and friends in the east coast are urged to help nominate anyone in the community who has been working to uplift the community to receive an Ajabu African Award. Ajabu Media plans to bring the event in other regions across the USA in subsequent years to recognize Africans playing massive roles to empower their local communities.
