WALTHAM, Mass.,__The Ugandan Diaspora community is set to protest the arrest and treason charges against popular MP, Bobi Wine by the president Yoweri Museveni led government. Wine's arrest has sparked street protests in Kampala and in neighboring country of Kenya where a rally was held yesterday at Uhuru Park. According to Ronald Magembe, one of the Diaspora protest organizers, the event will take place at the Waltham city hall grounds tomorrow Sunday August 25 starting 1pm to late in the evening. "We are urging members of all African communities in Massachusetts and neighboring states as well as friends of Uganda to come in big numbers to show support to our brother Bobi Wine who is being held in poor conditions and charged with fake treason charges just for speaking up against mistreatment of our people back home," Magembe told Ajabu Africa News during a telephone interview. In addition to the public protests, the Ugandan Diaspora community clergymen will also hold a meeting today to discuss the deteriorating developments back in Uganda which seems to be getting worse, Pastor Issac Balinda told Ajabu Media. "Things are not looking good right now in Uganda. We need to do something about it as the Diaspora community. We are asking for prayers and ideas on how to intervene," he said. The Waltham city hall common is located at 610 Main Street, Waltham, MA 02452 | |||||||||
