Liverpool annihilates Porto, Spurs edge Manchester City to complete UCL's Final four The boys have finally been separated from the men and the stage is set to determine which two European soccer teams will meet to decide this year's UEFA Club champions. In a battle of perennial English powerhouses, Manchester City saw their rivals Tottenham Hotspur snatch the last position at the final four table and a guaranteed 25 per cent chance to make the trip to Madrid for the June 1st Continental showcase. In an earlier match, Liverpool FC, punched their ticket to the semi finals following a drubbing of a hapless FC Porto who certainly had nothing to write home after the match. Liverpool now face an acid test when they meet FC Barcelona and one of the world's iconic players Lionel Messi. This will be a semi final, I predict whose winner will take top honors in Madrid on June 1st. Tottenham Hotspur will face AFC Ajax, one of the most successful European teams who have won the continental cup 4 times ( 3 times consecutively) in an effort to square off against either La Liga powerhouse, FC Barcelona, the highest ranked team of the four or their EPL counterparts, Liverpool who hope not to walk alone! It is worth noting that all the four teams have a legitimate shot at lifting the UCL Trophy, with Ajax dethroning champions Real Madrid and sending Christiano Ronaldo packing on their road to the final four. Liverpool on the other hand are returning to the fray as last year's runner's up, but most importantly with the same attacking crew led by Mohamed Salah and a reinforced attacking midfield. English side, Tottenham Hotspur, whose midfield includes Kenya's Victor Mugubi Wanyama eliminated Manchester City in a hard fought battle and look destined for European glory and with Wanyama playing a key role in the central defense, he is definitely making Kenya proud that finally one of its sons is making an impact in international top flight football. Tottenham will host AFC Ajax on April 30th as FC Barcelona hosts Liverpool FC on May 1st with the return leg fixtures slated for May 7th and 8th respectively. The winners of the semi finals will then square off at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain on Saturday June 1st 2019. Stay tuned and watch this space..... | |||||||||
