A Kenyan father of two abruptly died Tuesday night at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston while undergoing treatment for GI complications, a shocking development that has left his family and friends in the Kenyan community in Boston mourning in the midst of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

According to close family and friends, Charles Njung'e Kihara (36) of Brockton. a few miles south of Boston, has been battling gastrointestinal (GI) problems for some time but things turned for the worse recently prompting his hospitalization at Beth Israel.

"Charles was a loving father to Darnell and Ariel. He was a dear brother to Lucy Mwanci (Mama Rita) of Kenya, Carol Kingara and Mike Ndungu of Weymouth, Bonnie and Judy Kingara of Brockton and Tom Kingara of Brockton. He was an active member of the Kenya Catholic community in Quincy," read a short message from a hurriedly organized funeral planning committee in a social media post.

The committee pleaded with members of the Kenyan community in Boston and well wishers everywhere to support the family at this time of extreme difficulty with prayers and financial support for the funeral.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles Njung'e Kingara of Brockton who went to be with the Lord on 7/28/2020 after a short illness. Charles was a loving father to Darnell and Arielle. He was a dear brother to Lucy Mwangi (Mama Rita) of Kenya, Carol Kingara and Mike Ndungu of Weymouth, Bonnie and Judy Kingara of Brockton and Tom Kingara of Brockton. He was an active member of the Kenya Catholic community in Quincy.

Family and friends will be gathering for prayers and funeral arrangements every evening at 8pm via Zoom.
