A 39 year old Kenyan resident of London in the state of Ontario, Canada was found dead in her apartment by local police who conducted a welfare check following several days of non communication to friends and family.

According to family sources, the late Lucia Wandibi Waireri stopped responding to communications on Thursday November 25 before she was found dead on Saturday November 27. She lived alone in her apartment. The cause of her death was not immediately known.

Lucia was the loving daughter of Jane Nyangugi Githenya of Nyali, Mombasa and Francis Waireri Mutero of Wichita, Kansas. Granddaughter of Samuel Githenya of Ndenderu, Kiambu. Niece to Nduta Mui, Maryland.Cousin to Lucy Njoki, Seattle, Moses and Esther Kinuthia, Massachusetts and many more. Lucia was found deceased in her apartment during welfare check yesterday.

She attended Edith Cowan University in Australia and graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations.

In 2011, she relocated to London Ontario Canada for her master’s degree.

She was still living in London until the day of her passing. She was very outgoing and had made many friends in Kenya, Australia and Canada.

The grandparents and family are humbly requesting for assistance from the Kenyan diaspora community for her body to be repatriated so they can see her one more time before she is laid to rest in Kenya.

Family and friends are in the midst of fundraising plans. “Lucia will be laid to rest in Kenya. We are kindly requesting for financial support to cater for all the expenses, our target goal is USD 25, 000,” urged a hastily organized funeral committee in a social media statement to friends and well-wishers.

More information will be communicated as we continue with the plans. Your prayers and support will be greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
