Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Friday evening hosted President Uhuru Kenyatta at his home in Nairobi. The president was accompanied by the Kanu chairperson Gideon Moi. The meeting happened in absence of Azimio la Umoja Movement presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga who is still in the United Kingdom for his visit. Kalonzo said he is fully behind Raila’s presidential bid under the Azimio-OKA coalition. The Wiper leader has insisted on the name of the coalition being the Azimio-One Kenya despite Raila allies saying otherwise. “We are Azimio - One Kenya and we will support Right Honourable former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga for the presidency in the forthcoming August General Election,” Kalonzo tweeted. The meeting comes following Kalonzo’s concerns regarding the deal that was signed during the Azimio National Delegates Congress that was held last month at KICC where the president endorsed Raila for the presidency. After the KICC deal, Kalonzo claimed that he was not aware of what was inside the signed documents that bonded the parties in the coalition ahead of the August 9 polls. Days later, he made a U-Turn in his remarks, saying that he had understood the deal after an engagement with his team. The presence of Uhuru appears as the move to soften Kalonzo’s stand on the proposed name of the coalition. In an interview with Citizen TV on Friday, Kalonzo warned of dire consequences in the event the name of the coalition changes from Azimio-One Kenya to Azimio La Umoja. Kalonzo maintained that the coalition agreement signed indicates that the outfit is dubbed Azimio-One Kenya and not Azimio La Umoja. Kalonzo expressed his commitment to ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid saying he is determined to ensure he wins. | |||||||||
