WOBURN, MA__With the Covid-19 pandemic largely behind us, church events have sprung back to life as believers look to reconnect socially for spiritual nourishment. At one fast growing multi-cultural diaspora church in Woburn near Boston, the events kicked off with a highly entertaining singles dinner held last Sunday. The elegant event attracted dozens of single women and men across many age groups and countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Nigeria, Ghana, Haiti, Cameroon, Liberia, South Africa, USA and even Japan. The singles were eager to connect with potential soul mates and learn more about the challenges of singlehood while preparing for the next journey into marriage and healthy relationships. But even before the powerful impact cools off, the Rivers of Life Assembly International church is already gearing up for another upcoming 3-day annual conference that has been on hold since 2020. Dubbed “The Higher Life Conference”, the event will take place from Friday August 5th to Sunday August 7th.It will feature Pastor Sarah Morgan, a renowned, highly sought after African American Evangelist from Los Angeles who has been on major platforms across the United States and the world over. Bishop Nosa Onaiwu from Dallas will join Pastor Morgan, who also is a frequent visitor at African diaspora churches in USA at the pulpit together with his daughter, Pastor Blessed Onaiwu, a rising gospel sensation in the music industry. A Special “Prophetic” breakfast featuring pastor Sarah Morgan will take place on Saturday August 6th hosted by Apostle Dr. David and Ritabella Kunobwa, leaders of Rivers of Life Assembly International that serves a multi-faceted congregation of worshippers in the region from near and far. With a theme of “Breaking Barriers from limitation to restoration and dimensional shift”, the highly awaited conference is open and free to all members of the public. “After 2 years of social distancing due to Covid-19, we are happy to have our conferences return in power and make a great impact to make a stamp in the sand on time. We are inviting all members of the public to come and hear from these powerful servants of God,” pastor Ritabella Kunobwa told Ajabu Africa News. During the singles dinner last Sunday, guests from their early 20s to over 65 years mingled and weighed their options for life long partners as they sampled food and non-alcoholic cocktails served to juice up the occasion. Playing in the background was inspirational soft Christian music from different genres including reggae. An elaborate red carpet walkway led to a photography section where guests posed for memorable pictures. However, it was the words of advice from pastor Ritabella Kunobwa, wife of the church’s senior pastor, Apostle Dr. David Kunobwa that opened the eyes of many singles present on how to succeed in the dating arena and marriage life.
The pastor revealed that marriage and healthy relationships were all about how spiritual a couple is, and that without being grounded in the teachings of the concrete, uncompromising and undiluted word of God, many relationships and marriages will end up in serious, endless conflict and potential crash to the ground. She added that lack of financial transparency among couples have driven many marriages to divorce. She singled out a growing problem among African immigrant couples where many women refuse to share their finances with their husbands, leaving them to foot the entire household bills while they go on spending sprees. She added that men do not want to have stay at home wives any longer as practiced in many parts of Africa anymore, thus it was important to do household budgeting together with frequency, tranparency and effective communication. "If a woman is getting a paycheck at work, then she can not expect the man to foot all family expenses by himself. She should bring everything to the table for budgeting . The husband should do the same. No one should be saying "my money is my money or holding secret accounts."' The dinner closed with a prayer session where singles willing to be “fired” from singlehood presented themselves for anointing. According to pastor Ritabella, the majority of singles that got fired from the singles club ended up with successful relationships that led to marriages. Guests present counted over 10 marriages resulting from those fired during the most recent event in 2021 at the height of Covid-19 pandemic. During a Q & A session, gloves came off when the two pastors responded to nagging questions on the most intimate of intimacy situations during a no holds bared discussion on dating and marriage life. Mouths gaped and eyes popped wide open, as the intricate relationship issues were dissected one after the other. Dr. Kunobwa cautioned singles and married couples that without transparency, patience and compromise in learning each other’s life desires, emotions, and bodily needs, they will continue to make wrong conclusions about each other, leading to many unhappy marriages. Guests gave a loud applause to Dr. David and Ritabella Kunobwa in appreciation for the help navigating the realities of relationships and marriage.
“This was an eye-opening event. I learnt so much and now feel more prepared for the next relationship,” said one happy single man who revealed that he was pleased to interact with many ladies, hoping he will find the right one to date with marriage in mind during an interview with Ajabu Media. “Am just browsing,” another young man responded to concerns raised by a guest who wondered why he kept shifting his seating position to a total of 3 different tables to chat with beautiful ladies, causing a light moment in the room. Pastor Ritabella said that the event had always been held at a hotel setting pre Covid, but was forced to bring it back to the church venue in 2020 and 2021 due to social distancing requirements. “I think this will be the last event to host in the church. We will go back to the hotel setting for the future,” the pastor revealed. The women’s ministry at the church popularly known as “Women of Solution International”, organized the dinner. With the 5th annual singles dinner well concluded, preparations are now in top gear for the upcoming conference in two weeks time. The church is located at 300 Wildwood Avenue in Woburn, MA . It holds a regular Sunday service from 10.30 am- 1pm, a mid-week service on Wednesday from 7 pm- 9pm and an end of week service on Friday 9pm-1am. The church can be reached via phone number at 1(617) 852-1895. Website: www.riversoflifeassembly.org PICS BY IMAGE CANVAS | ||||||||||||||||||||
