Kenya will soon establish a Moderna Vaccines Manufacturing Hub in Nairobi with the help of the US government.
This emerged following discussions between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and US Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman.

"Kenya and the United States have for many decades shared strong bilateral and multilateral relations," Gachagua said. In early March, Kenya signed a memorandum of understanding with Moderna to establish its first mRNA manufacturing facility in Africa. The American biotechnology firm said the facility would cost $500 million (Sh57.5 billion) to produce messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines. The DP also stated that the cooperation and relations between the two states can only grow stronger and deeper for the benefit of future generations of both countries. The conclusion of the process to allow Millennium Challenge Corporation to release $60 million (Sh7.28 billion) grant towards the improvement of Transport System in Nairobi also formed part of the discussions. | |||||||||
