A second Kenyan suitor seeking to marry US President Barack Obama's daughter Malia has emerged.
The new suitor has surpassed lawyerFelix Kiprono Mategei's offer of 50 cows and has instead offered 10 times more to marry the older daughter of the US president. The 24-year-old Maasai moran, Jeff ole Kishau, who is a gospel musician, says he is in love with Malia and was ready to offer President Obama 500 cows for his daughter's hand in marriage. He dismissed Mr Matagei's offer of 70 sheep and 30 goats as a sign of bad luck and bankruptcy. "My friend Kiprono is playing jokes with the US president's daughter. How can you offer only 50 cows for the daughter of the most powerful man in the world? READY TO GIVE 500 CATTLE "To prove (that I'm) serious, I will give her father 500 cattle and even more and I am ready to send them to the US in the form of money," said Mr Kishau. Under Maasai culture, a young man seeking to marry a girl of his choice is barred from making any move directly to her but should instead make his appeal through community elders. Among the elders he wants to represent him in the negotiations are former Heritage Minister William ole Ntimama, Narok Governor Samuel ole Tunai, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and former powerful Cabinet minister John Keen. "I will give the Obama family 500 cows in accordance with African traditions and sell all my Maasai land in Suswa, Ewuaso Kidong and another one at the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve just to win her." "I will be the happiest man in the world if the most powerful man in the world becomes my father-in-law," added Mr Kishau. Speaking to the Nation in his Suswa home Wednesday, Mr Kishau, who is an orphan, said he had searched for Malia through Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter all in vain and has now decided to invoke the Maasai custom and send elders to engage President Obama directly. | |||||||||
