BOSTON--Fast rising Kenyan gospel artiste,Vickie Kitonga performed at the PCEA Neema church and the St. Andrews Catholic church in Worcester last Sunday during an initial Boston leg of her 2015 US tour, before advancing to Harrisonburg Virginia for this weekend's KCFA annual convention. After the KCFA appearance, Vickie, who is a daughter to Arch Bishop Arthur Kitonga of the Redeemed Gospel Ministries based in Huruma, Nairobi Kenya, is scheduled to perform in Kansas before returning for a final performance in Boston on Sunday August 9th at the CCF church in Lowell. During the performance at the Neema church, Kitonga introduced her newly released hit Tulia (relax) from a newly released CD. She told worshipers at the church that she was honored to have an opportunity to worship with them and perform, hoping that she would encourage someone who may be going through a hard time.
"I would like you to know that I am very grateful to be here with you today. I feel honored to worship with you and perform a few songs. I hope my music will encourage someone who is going through a hard time. If you are the one, don't lose hope. Just be assured that everything is possible with God." In Worcester, Kitonga sought to console the family of the late Fredrick Mwaura, a Kenyan man who passed away last week after a 3 month battle with liver cancer. She performed five hits during the memorial service. During the Boston appearance last week, Vickie also visited Salon D'Afrique, the increasingly popular Kenyan owned hair salon on West 6th Street for hair maintenance courtesy of the business operators, Cathy Olu and Gerald Kanyi. "I was pleased with the service I got at Salon D'Afrique. These guys are the best. Kanyi gave me a cool retouch of my dreads and now I feel great," she revealed.
