BOSTON--Three top winners will walk away with $7,000 in cash prizes during the upcoming African Hidden Talents show, New England edition that kicks off with auditioning on Friday July 24th and Sunday 26th at the Best Western Hotel in Woburn, MA. A grand finale is slated for September 18th at the Memorial Hall in Melrose MA that will see the top winner scooping $3,500, $2,500 for the runners up and $1,000 for the second runners up. According to the organizers, the African Hidden Talents show is first of it's kind in the community to promote and enhance the gift and spirits of Africans featuring colorful varieties of Singers, Magicians, Dancers, Comedians, Jugglers, Hopeful and Hidden stars and all manner of talents found in them as their passions dictate. However, to enter into the thrilling competition, aspiring "future African Stars" must register and submit their intended presentations for the initial auditioning. According to Lilian Emefiele, the show producer on behalf of Beyond Faith TV, the show owners and sole financiers, the online registration is free but will only be open for the next two weeks to close on Tuesday July 21st. BeyondFaithTV, the organizers of the show, is looking to nurture and develop talents that remain hidden among African youth in the Diaspora. Among the most recent African to make such headlines is Uzo Aduba of "Orange is the new black" and Lupita Nyongo, who started as an aspiring drama and theatre actor in Nairobi Kenya before her talent was spotted and natured in the USA. "We have so much talent in arts, performances special skills in our people. They are not getting many avenues within the African community in New England to expose these talents. We urge anyone out there who thinks they have anything they can do well to come and audition with us. Those who will make it to the grand finale stand a chance to walk away with cash prizes in addition to other opportunities opening up for them in the entertainment industry," she said during an interview at the Ajabu Africa News studios in Woburn. Recent trends in the film and entertainment industry point to an increasing awareness of the massive potential that the continent of Africa has to offer with many top Hollywood and Nollywood actors, poets, musicians, dancers etc making headlines around the world. Lupita went on to shock the world when she won the Oscar Award's Best Female Supporting actress for her role in the movie 12 years a Slave during the 2014 Academy Awards in Hollywood. Since then, Lupita has continued to win other awards and top film roles, even as she travels around the world to inspire young girls to explore and develop their talents.
While accepting her Oscar Award, Lupita said that, if she could win such an award based on where she came from, then it was possible for anyone else from Africa to do the same or even better. Lupita decided to dedicate the award to young people out there in the World, urging them them to realize that their dreams are as also valid and should not shy away from finding any avenue to develop them. It is in the footsteps of Lupita and other top Hollywood and Nollywood actors of African descent, as well as the examples set forth by the popular America Got Talent show that the organizers of the African Hidden Talent Show are moving to promote and nature African Diaspora future stars. | |||||||||
