Nairobi residents ushered in the new year with pomp and color.
There was a display of fireworks that lit the sky immediately after the clock hit midnight.
The fireworks exploded in bright colours, with residents pouring into the streets to watch the spectacular display.
The excited lot captured the moment, taking pictures with their phones as they ushered in 2016.
Entertainment joints along Moi Avenue were full and some revellers took celebrations to the street.
At 11:59pm, the DJs worked up the crowd to a countdown and when the clock struck midnight, the loud music was drowned in cheers, shouts and thunder claps for the new year.
The fireworks display continued for about 10 minutes after midnight, attracting more crowds to the city centre.
Other city residents chose to usher in the new year in churches.
Some congregated at the Consolata Catholic Church in Westlands for prayer and thanksgiving as 2015 folded.
