Kenyans living in Israel are law-abiding, the President has said, noting this is one of the reasons the country has allowed more locals to work there. Uhuru Kenyatta urged Kenyans in the Diaspora to obey the laws of the countries they are in to make it easier for more compatriots to follow them. "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I agreed to allow more Kenyans to come to work in Israel. Continue being role models and obey the laws of the country you live in to maintain respect for yourself and for our country," he said in Israel. "The Kenyan Diaspora all over the world plays a crucial role in the development and growth of our country and the government will support you." Israel has also agreed to double the number of Kenyan students learning dryland farming technologies in the country. Uhuru further noted in his address to Kenyans in Israel at Carlton Hotel, Tel Aviv, on Thursday afternoon that Kenyans living abroad are role models for those from other countries. He had said in an earlier address that Kenyans are experts at stealing and hurling insults , perpetuate hatred despite being in a good country and are doing little to stop corruption in the government and the private sector. Regarding tourism, the President said the government was working on a plan to attract more visitors, alongside the drive to boost trade relations. "We want to work more closely with Israel. We want more business and more tourists from this country," he said, and added that Kenya is progressing in the right direction. "We are making progress in our efforts to build a country where every Kenyan feels proud of." Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery was scheduled to meet his Israeli counterpart to work out details related to Kenyan workers going to Israel. Kenya's Ambassador to IsraelAugostinoNjoroge and a representative of Kenyans in Israel addressed the event. | |||||||||
