A love triangle turned tragic when a woman in Eldoret, Kenya, allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death, sparking protests by angry wananchi. Ms Brenda Nyongesa, 20, is said to have stabbed 32-year-old Ibrahim Onyango in the ribs, killing him instantly. She had accused him of cheating on her. Eldoret West Officer Commanding Police Division Samuel Mutunga confirmed the incident, which occurred at Kamukunji slums on the outskirts of Eldoret Town, noting that the couple had a fight and the man was overpowered before he was stabbed to death. "I visited the scene with my officers and found the man already dead with the woman sitting next to the body, holding a knife," Mr Mutunga told the Nation. The woman is being held at Eldoret Police Station while the body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. HANDLE ISSUES AMICABLY “I urge couples to be handling their issues in an amicable manner instead of resorting to killing each other or committing crimes that could land them in trouble,” said Mr Mutunga. Incidents of couples fatally stabbing each other have been on the rise in Eldoret. On March 22, a Fourth Year university student died after he was stabbed several times by a fellow student in a suspected love triangle. Mr Steve Wairimu, a hotel and hospitality management student at the Moi University's Eldoret Town campus, and a friend had visited his girlfriend at her off-campus hostel but found her with her First Year male colleague. Steve was later killed in a confrontation. Last July, a 21-year-old student at Moi University's West Campus was beaten to death by her boyfriend, a student at another university. The man was then lynched by a mob. | |||||||||
