Human rights lawyer Willie Kimani died after his genitals were crushed and his head suffered extensive injuries, a court heard on Wednesday.

Andrew Gachie, an independent consultant pathologist hired by LSK, tabled his postmortem report at the High Court in a probe on the torture and murder of Kimani and two others.

He presented his findings alongside those of government pathologist Johansen Oduor.

Gachie said Kimani had 14 injuries to the head and other extensive injuries to his skull.

He said taxi driver Joseph Mwangi was strangled and had head injuries that led to his death.

Kimani's client, boda boda operator Josephat Mwenda, also died from head and neck injuries.

Gachie's findings were based on scans taken on Saturday and autopsies carried out on Monday.

The bodies of the three victims were retrieved fromOldonyo Sabukriver lastThursday, three days after they had gone missing.

Four police officers linked to the deaths have beendetained amid investigations.

The officers believed to be behind their killings are Fredrick Leliman,Stephen Chebulet,Silvia Wanjiku and Leonard Maina.

Maina is a sergeant at theSyokimau Chief's camp,where Kimani,Mwangi and Mwenda were detained before their deaths.
