New Ford-Kenya Party has formally dissolved to join Jubilee Party ahead of the 2017 general election. Its officials decided to dissolve it and join President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party after a national executive committee meeting. New Ford Kenya, whose leader was Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, becomes the first to join the new party that Uhuru will use to seek re-election The party had urged the Jubilee coalition not to dissolve affiliate parties , its leaders saying this would weaken parties with strong regional support. But the party said it resolved to ensure Jubilee Jubilee Party has a national outlook with leaders from all regions. New Ford Kenya, that Eugene Wamalwa led before taking the Water CS post, has majority members in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia county assemblies. Other parties that will dissolve into the new outfit include Jubilee Alliance Party, The National Alliance, United Republican Party, Alliance Party of Kenya, Ford People, CCU, GNU, Democratic Party and the United Republican Party. The JAP secretariat will be used as the office of the Jubilee Party while all party constitutions will be formulated into one. The new party will be launched later in July once all affiliates merge and will use consensus to fill 17 positions of national officials. The draft constitution seen by the Star states the positions will be distributed among officials of the parties that come together. Deputy President William Ruto is expected to take up the position of party leader and TNA that of deputy party leader. | |||||||||
