A 16-year-old Class Eight girl is accusing her friend of stealing her baby in Nairobi kenya.
The complainant told police that the she had left her baby asleep on the bed only for it to be stolen by the accused.
The girl who delivered not long ago claims her friend Vivian Akinyi stole her baby boy on August 2 within Pangani area.
According to police records Akinyi fraudulently took the two--months--old boy from her mother who had lawful custody of the child.
The complaint claims the accused had accompanied her to visit her aunt who lives in the area when the incident happened.
The court heard that while climbing stairs leading to her aunt's house, the suspect stepped on the complainant's shoes damaging them.
It is alleged that the complainant handed her baby to Akinyi to proceed to her aunt's house as she rushed to mend the shoe not far away from the house.
According to the prosecution, when the complainant returned, she found Akinyi standing at the balcony. It was then that she proceeded to her aunt's house to check on the baby only to find rugs intentionally made to resemble her baby. Her baby was gone. It is alleged that the suspect went missing after the incident. However the boy was later found after the matter was reported to the police.
