The body of the late Josephat Njau, the Kenyan father of two who died two weeks ago after being hit by a an MBTA train at the Green street Station in Jamaica Plain near Boston was repatriated and laid to rest last Monday in his rural home of Kitale, Rift Valley County. (Recap:Kenyan man hit and killed by Subway Train in Boston) The body was repatriated from the Morse Bayliss Funeral Home in Lowell after a fundraiser by the Kenyan community in the region raised $12,000 towards the funeral expenses during a memorial and fund raiser service held that the PEFA church in Malden Sunday November 4th. The late Njau's body was accompanied his wife, two children and a brother based in Dallas Texas for the burial. Thanking the Kenyan community for their donations, the pastor of the PEFA church, Rev. Dr. Charles Karanja said the selfless action by the community in Malden and from out of town left him speechless with gratitude. "I have no words to say that would be enough to thank all the people who turned up and helped us raise enough funds to send the body back home. This family was going through a very difficult time and you have all helped them very much. May God bless you all," he told Ajabu Africa News. The fundraiser was moderated by Samuel Mbugua from Lowell with several Kenyan pastors in attendance. | |||||||||
